2026 LSTA Grant - Nonfiction Collection Development

The 2026 LSTA grant updated the Trussville Public Library’s juvenile and adult nonfiction collections. The library was able to add new titles and updated editions of books to help readers of all ages learn about a variety of topics ranging from sports teams to Alabama legal policies.

Keep reading to learn more about how the grant is being used & check back soon to explore some of the new titles we were able to purchase!

Youth Department:

"The LSTA grant funds were used in part by the Children's Department to update the juvenile nonfiction collection. The focus of this was the sports and hobby section which included updating all the sport teams' books. This has been a patron request for a few years, and we are happy we could update this section all at once! We spent $7142.35 to purchase 324 books."

Adult Department:

"The LSTA grant funds were used in part by the Adult Department to update our technology and law collections as well as purchasing a few books for caregivers. Our law section especially was woefully out of date, and we were able to purchase several new editions of essential informational works. As both sections can become outdated quickly, we are very grateful we could make these updates."
