Trussville Public Library's new festival is coming to town! On Saturday, May 3rd, we're inviting 3 local shelters and rescues to bring some of their best companions to the library to find a forever home. Outside the library, we'll have adoptable dogs available for meeting and playing with! Inside the library, we'll have a relaxing adoptable cat room! We'll also be hosting free library programs throughout the day, a "Flea" Market with local vendors, food trucks, an author event with poet Charles Ghigna, and more!
What if I'm not able to adopt an animal?
That's perfectly fine! This festival is all about supporting local animals and shelters/rescues, so we have so many more options for how you can help!
*All donations made will enter you for a chance to win a basket giveaway after the festival!

Charles Ghigna will be visiting the Wagging Tales Festival and performing for visitors! Children and their families are invited to join Mr. Ghigna, aka Father Goose, at the festival as he performs lively readings of his poetry. After, attendees can ask questions and meet with Charles as he signs books.
Who is Charles Ghigna?
Charles Ghigna, aka Father Goose, is an Alabama author who's written over 5000 poems and published over 250 books & anthologies! He writes for both youth and adult readers and spends his time travelling to schools, libraries, and book fairs to spread joy and a love for the written word. When he's not out and about, he's at home in his "Treehouse" thinking of even more stories to share.
"Finding poetry in the world and sharing it with others makes us feel alive. It fills us with hope. It celebrates life. It shines light into the corners of the world and turns the overlooked and the common place into sparkling gems of wonder and joy. Writing for children is like that." - Ghigna
How can I buy a book for signing?
A selection of Ghigna's works that he'll perform will be available for pre-purchase. You can find info to purchase a book on the event page.
